Acoustic Sealants & Coatings
Noise Control is Attention to Details.
Seal Every Gap. Block Every Sound Path.
Even the strongest wall or enclosure can allow noise to 'escape' if gaps, seams, or surfaces are left untreated. Our products can help you achieve higher STC ratings, maintain better speech privacy, and assure confidence in your noise control investment.

The Unseen Path of Noise
Even the most advanced noise barriers can fall short if small gaps or seams are ignored. Sound travels through the tiniest openings, reducing the effectiveness of walls, partitions, and enclosures.
That’s why Memtech specifies acoustic glues, sealants, and coatings as part of a complete engineered solution. These materials are not add-ons, they’re the finishing touches that ensure performance, compliance, and long-term durability.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why do I need acoustic sealants if I already have STC-rated walls or assemblies?
STC ratings are measured in controlled laboratory conditions with no gaps, penetrations, or flanking paths. In real-world construction, sound travels through the smallest openings. Even a small unsealed gap can dramatically reduce the in-field performance of an otherwise well-designed assembly.
What is the difference between acoustic damping glue and acoustic sealant?
They serve different functions in a noise control assembly. Acoustic damping glue, like QuietGlue® Pro, is a viscoelastic compound applied between rigid layers (drywall, plywood, subfloor) to dissipate vibrational energy and reduce sound transmission through the assembly itself.
Acoustic sealant, like QuietSeal® Pro, is applied at perimeters, seams, and penetrations to seal air gaps that create flanking paths for airborne sound.
Acoustic sealant, like QuietSeal® Pro, is applied at perimeters, seams, and penetrations to seal air gaps that create flanking paths for airborne sound.
What is a flanking path, and how does acoustic sealant prevent it?
A flanking path is any indirect route that sound takes around a noise control barrier, through gaps at the top or bottom of a wall, around electrical outlets, through pipe penetrations, or along structural connections. Flanking is one of the most common reasons a completed room or enclosure underperforms its design target. QuietSeal® Pro and QuietPutty® pads are specifically designed to close these paths at the most vulnerable points in the assembly.
What is QuietPutty® used for, and is it required by code?
QuietPutty® Acoustic Putty Pads seal electrical outlet boxes, switch boxes, and small wall penetrations to preserve both the acoustic performance and fire rating of STC-rated assemblies. Back-to-back electrical boxes on opposite sides of a partition are a well-documented weak point in sound isolation. QuietPutty® is Class A fire-rated (ASTM E84), asbestos-free, and provides draft and cold smoke sealing in addition to acoustic performance. Many building codes and healthcare construction guidelines require that electrical penetrations in rated assemblies be sealed. QuietPutty® satisfies both the acoustic and fire compliance requirements in a single product.
How much noise reduction does QuietCoat® acoustic damping coating provide?
QuietCoat® is a sprayable viscoelastic polymer designed for metal and composite surfaces such as HVAC ducts, machinery panels, enclosures, and appliances. Applied by brush, roller, or sprayer, it delivers typical noise reductions of 6 to 20 dB depending on surface type, application thickness, and frequency content of the noise. It fast-dries in under 20 minutes, is water-soluble, RoHS compliant, and meets industry flammability standards, making it well-suited for OEM manufacturing, industrial plant use, and retrofit applications.
Are these products safe for use in occupied buildings or sensitive environments?
Yes. All products in this line are water-based, low-VOC (less than 0.1 g/L), solvent-free, and formulated for occupant health and indoor air quality. QuietSeal® Pro is low-odor with simple soap-and-water cleanup. QuietGlue® Pro is lab-tested and non-toxic. These characteristics make them appropriate for healthcare facilities, schools, government buildings, and occupied commercial spaces where chemical exposure or off-gassing is a concern.
Do these products support LEED certification or HIPAA compliance?
Yes on both counts. All sealants and coatings in this line are LEED-compliant and support sustainable building documentation. For healthcare construction, QuietSeal® Pro and QuietPutty® help seal patient rooms, exam rooms, and treatment areas against sound leak. LEED documentation is available upon request through Memtech.
